Analysis of Statistics
Where are the problems and unused possibilities? Why have they emerged? Where to look for a solution?
Web site statistics provide answers to these questions; not exhaustively but still quite well. Web is a miraculous thing -- here we know precisely how many visitors we have, when and where they come from, which pages they view, what keywords they search for. Unfortunately most companies do not use this data at all.
- The analysis can be based on the web site's own statistics engine. For example Saurus PowerTools includes a statistics engine; often the hosting providers supply free statistics software such as AWStats, Webalizer, WebDruid or similar.
- Google Analytics has become the factual standard of web statistics software. It is a powerful analysis tool, providing convenient reports on virtually anything. A line of code has to be added to page templates.
- Statistics provide numbers and their dynamics. But what do the numbers mean? Why are things as they are? If we want changes, then what exactly should change? To answer these question, we need to know the mechanics of web on one hand and user psychology on the other hand. All Web Industry has sufficient experience to generalize the numbers and see the reasons behind them.
